HELLO! You have received this email because at some point you signed up for the Beth Brower newsletter on my website, with the hope that—at some point—such a thing would exist. My friends, today is the day! I’ve been wanting to create a newsletter for years. Something that would arrive in the inbox of readers once a month with an update on how my writing projects are moving along.
I’ve decided that the platform of Substack is the perfect avenue for what I want to accomplish. This will allow me to send out a monthly newsletter which all subscribers get free. Yay!
But I didn’t just want to send out a monthly newsletter…because I have more. Attached to the newsletter with be Beth Brower’s Selected Journals. And Paid subscribers will also have access to (drum roll, please) The St. Crispian’s Gazette!
Would you like a tour of this monthly itinerary? Scroll down.
THE FIRST WEEK, I will send out my free newsletter, The Bookshelf, with an update on what I’m working on, how it’s going, and other important information. This will arrive automatically each month in your email inbox. (If you have received this email, you are already subscribed to the free newsletter.)
I will send out Beth Brower’s Selected Journals in the newsletter. This, in essence, will be my online commonplace book, filled with my own considerations, essays, reviews, thoughts on writing, and links to things I love.
THE THIRD WEEK, I will be sending out The St. Crispian’s Gazette! This is possibly what I am most excited about. My current series—The Unselected Journals of Emma M. Lion—has a sprawling cast. I have so much history and background information on all the characters, and I’ve wanted to find a way to share that while working on the books. (i.e., my short story Chambers, that many of you have read.) This means Emma readers will have something new Every Month to enjoy—be it a scene, short story, or a letter between characters. The St. Crispian’s Gazette comes with a paid subscription.
On occasion, I will send out a Postcard.
Now, my friends, as you value my work, please feel free to pass along the monthly newsletter, but I ask that you not share The St. Crispian’s Gazette unless it is unlocked. My writing is my livelihood and I love it. Help me keep it going. Fair compensation means I can spend more time writing, a.k.a., you’ll wait less time for the next volume of Emma, and other books, like Crow (A companion novel to The Q), where our favorite smuggler is in legal trouble and could use my help. Your subscription is a ticket that allows you as an individual (or a single household) to read these stories and posts. If you would like to share with someone you love, feel free to gift them a subscription.
I hope that Beth Brower Scribbles Away becomes a highlight in your month and that you can enjoy connecting with other readers in the comments (if you so desire).
x Beth
