DEAR READER,

Emma M. Lion will soon be speaking many languages and I’m pleased to announce that she will be making her foreign language debut in French!

The Unselected Journals of Emma M. Lion are being published by the storied Flammarion publishing house. Flammarion started in 1876, which means they were publishing books by the time Emma was traipsing about speaking the agricultural French she learned at Fortitude, a Preparatory School for Girls.

The first two volumes will be released June 24th. Less than a month away!

Many of the decorative elements are printed in a foil accent, as seen in the charming video below.

Aren’t they gorgeous? So lovely. I’m very excited. The details on the spines and the back covers are just right and I couldn’t be more pleased.

THIS MARCH, I attended a dinner at the Garrick Club (hosted by my agent, Georgina Capel) with a number of the publishers who will be translating and releasing Emma M. Lion throughout the world.

It was a special evening, and I’ve thought of it often. The individuals I had the pleasure of meeting are astute and talented, to be sure. I was also impressed with their warmth and consideration. I kept thinking, “How lucky am I to work with such good people?”

I’m excited to share publishers and covers when it comes time to announce the release dates but—as a quick preview in no particular order—Emma is soon going to be read in:

Everyone in St. Crispian’s is getting an absolute kick out of all the languages they will be speaking. So am I. There may or may not have been a neighborhood meeting about it all. We met at the church, and then it devolved to a gathering at The Cleopatra.

BLOOMSBURY BIG NIGHT IN

On June 11th at 6:30 pm BST (which is 11:30 am MDT) I will be participating in a zoom event with five other Bloomsbury authors. We will each be interviewed about our books and there will be a live giveaway for every book discussed.

Hosted by Tandem Collective UK, it should be a great conversation and I’m looking forward to hearing from the other authors.

IN THE MEANTIME, I am spending my time entrenched in the edits of Vol. 9.
