A Quick Postcard from Beth
DEAR READER,
Last week I sent out a postcard that included the following:
I have an exciting announcement to make on March 3rd! And I am not going to say anything until then…
…but readers have found information online and it looks like rumors are starting to spread about what or what isn’t happening with The Unselected Journals of Emma M. Lion on the international stage. Speculation has ensued.
I can’t wait to share the details with you.
As there has been a flurry of discussion about what this will mean for EML 9, let me say that I am working hard, and the timing of its release will not be impacted. EML 9 will be coming out this year. Woot!
It is going to be a very joyful season for Emma M. Lion around the globe.
However, the announcement needed to be delayed and is rescheduled for March 12th. I’m terribly sorry for the delay. There were Forces At Work. But I am looking forward to sharing this news.
As a peace offering, I would like to give you two more songs that are part of my personal Emma M. Lion soundtrack.
I do love my readers.
I love both of these songs so much. The first fills my chest and becomes a meditation of sorts, the second wraps around my heart and doesn’t let go. I have listened to them both hundreds (thousands?) of times.
“The Man” by Pete Yorn.
This is an Alchemy song. It is applied to the four of them. It has special resonance to the whole of June, 1884, but also applies generally.
“Foxy’s Folk Faced” by Ocean Colour Scene
This is also an Alchemy song, but one that—while it is for all four of them—tilts towards Pierce. You can hear his beating heart.
It is the song I envision for June 18th, 1884, later in the afternoon…
I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.
Thanks for your patience and support, as always.
x Beth

I’ve been greatly enjoying crafting an Emma-inspired playlist or two myself, and so I get so excited to listen to and add songs you mention. Thank you for sharing these gems!
I’ve also realized that many of the songs I’ve collected myself have a great bend towards June 1884 (and Pierce oftentimes haha) as well. I think my mind might still be residing at Stonecrop for a while yet.
You can feel all of them in the songs. Thank you Beth. I love this so much! Reading is like seeing the intwining tapestry and now hearing is being able to feel it under my fingertips. You truly have created something magical.
